PUSS IN BOOTS

What a treat we had today, as we had a special visit from Puss In Boots. This really brought our teaching unit on drama to life. The children laughed, sang, shouted and screamed for a whole hour and were thoroughly entertained. The Teachers all had some quiet time afterwards!!!!

YEAR 8 LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

One of the special things we offer our students at Ardgowan is our special programme for our Y7/8 kids. Last week as part of this Ms Mclay took our Y8s on an overnight conference to Iona camp. Here they mixed with all the other Y8 kids from the Rural Schools and learned new skills and made new connections. This programme is unique to the Rural Schools, which makes us pretty special. It supports building new friendships and the development of the skills to do so, which will be so important at High School. It also provides opportunities for our kids to develop resilience, leadership skills and  social skills. It gave them a chance to ask High School kids who attended the conference about what High School is really like, from the perspective of someone who is there. This hopefully answered any questions and got rid of any worries they may have.

Happy Easter

Thank you to everyone for a wonderful Term 1. The kids have all made good progress and had many exciting learning experiences and lots of fun. Enjoy the last week, have a wonderful Easter break and I look forward to continuing the many successes and enriching experiences we share with you in Term 2.

LEADERS OF TOMORROW

Here are our wonderful Y8 children all ready for their 'Leaders Of Tomorrow' cycle ride today. They will start at Windsor and cycle 27kms back to town, to finish at the gardens. They have great weather and big smiles, and I'm sure they will enjoy the challenge.

A huge thank you to LJ Hooker for their generous donation of $100 to the school. This was presented to Head boy and Girl and Shed Leaders today, and they will use the money to add to the playtime equipment in the shed.

WEETBIX 'TRY-ATHLON' CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to all our Ardgowan kids who competed in the Weetbix Try-athlon last weekend. They all had a great time and competed well.
