At our Board Meeting last night we were happy to share our end of year data. We had set a target of 85% of children attaining at or above the national standard in reading. We just fell short, achieving 84%, but were very pleased with this high level.
In maths our target was for 65% and this was exceeded with 68% of our children reaching at or above.
We have had a real push on writing this year, seeking help from the MOE and getting involved in external professional development, as well as utilizing the great expertise we already have on the staff. Our target was set at 65% and again, we exceeded this achieving 70%.
We took time to celebrate and are now putting plans in place to make sure that we can sustain this great shift and build upon it next year, targeting those children who have not quite made the standard this time.

Heritage weekend
The sun came out just at the right moment to make sure that the Heritage Parade was bathed in sunlight and went off without a hitch.
It was great to see some Ardgowan kids either watching, or participating.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy celebrating the special character and rich history of our unique town.

Emergency drills
Today we had an emergency earthquake drill and the children all responded quickly to the 'Drop, cover, hold' instruction.
Our thoughts are with all those affected by the recent earthquakes. Kia Kaha.
